Cinderella’s Royal Table: What to Expect When Dining Inside Cinderella Castle

There are plenty of memorable dining experiences at Walt Disney World, but few feel quite as iconic as sitting down for a meal inside Cinderella Castle. Between the royal setting, the fairytale atmosphere, and Disney princesses visiting your table, Cinderella’s Royal Table offers a character dining experience unlike any other at Magic Kingdom.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, traveling with a Disney princess fan, or simply want to see what it's like inside one of the most recognizable landmarks in the parks, this is a reservation that may be on your Disney vacation wish list.

But what is the experience actually like? What can you expect from the food and character interactions, and is breakfast, lunch, or dinner the best fit for your family?

Having experienced Cinderella’s Royal Table firsthand, I'm sharing what to expect from the atmosphere and princess interactions to the menu options and differences between meal times. I'll also share the things I'd consider before booking to help you decide if this royal dining experience belongs on your itinerary.

A Royal Welcome: What to Expect

Let's start with the obvious: you're dining inside Cinderella Castle!

Even if you've visited Magic Kingdom countless times, there's something special about stepping inside this iconic landmark. Cinderella’s Royal Table isn't just another restaurant with princess-themed décor. The location itself is a huge part of the experience - and a big part of the price tag.

The entrance is on the backside of the castle, across from Sir Mickey's. Once your name is called, you'll be welcomed into the Grand Hall, where you can meet Cinderella before heading upstairs to dine. I recommend meeting her on your way in, but if she's temporarily unavailable when you arrive, you may have another opportunity to meet her as you leave. Just ask a Cast Member at check-in for guidance.

The Grand Hall is a little on the dark side, but don't worry if you're hoping for photos - a PhotoPass photographer is available to capture your meeting with Cinderella, and the professional lighting and flash can make a real difference.

From there, you'll head upstairs to the banquet room, where stained-glass windows, royal details, and natural light create a completely different atmosphere. It's a cozy, storybook setting that feels removed from the hustle and bustle of the park below. For a little while, you get to slow down, enjoy a meal, and take in a setting you don't get to experience every day.

Another special part of the meal is the Wishing Ceremony, which is similar to the experience at 1900 Park Fare. Guests receive a small wishing star to hold while the lights flicker while the voice of Fairy Godmother encourages everyone to make a wish and send it off with a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! It's a fun little moment that adds to the fairytale atmosphere, especially for younger guests.

Meeting the Disney Princesses

While Cinderella greets guests in the Grand Hall, other Disney princesses visit tables throughout the meal. The specific lineup can vary, so I wouldn't book expecting to meet a particular princess. In my experience, several princesses visit during the meal, with appearances often including Ariel, Aurora, Jasmine, and Merida, though the lineup can change.

For families with Disney princess fans, having the characters come right to your table can make the experience especially memorable. Rather than spending time waiting in separate meet-and-greet lines, you can enjoy your meal while the princesses stop by to chat, sign autographs, and pose for photos.

Our favorite interactions were with Merida, who brought her own brand of sass and sweetness to the experience. She expertly drew all three generations of our family into the conversation - not just the kids - which made the interaction feel particularly personal. It's a great example of how character dining can create memories for the whole family, especially when the youngest guests aren't the only ones getting attention!

Let's Talk About the Food

Cinderella’s Royal Table is a prix fixe dining experience, meaning you pay a set price for your meal rather than ordering each course separately. The meal includes your choice of menu items, along with select nonalcoholic beverages. If you're in the mood for something a little more special, alcoholic beverages are also available for an additional cost - unless you are using a Table Service Dining Credit.

Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of the pricier dining experiences at Magic Kingdom, and while the food is part of what you're paying for, it isn't the whole story. Much of the appeal comes from dining inside Cinderella Castle and having Disney princesses visit your table throughout the meal.

So, what can you expect from the food, and is one meal a better fit for your family than another? Let's take a look at breakfast, lunch, and dinner to help you decide which reservation makes the most sense for your trip.

Breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table

Breakfast can be a lovely way to start a Magic Kingdom day, especially if your family enjoys a sit-down meal and quality time with the princesses before heading into the park. I enjoyed the food, but I personally find it difficult to justify the $70+ price tag for a pastry course and one entrée. For me, breakfast is more about the castle setting and character interactions than the food itself.

While the menu can change, current selections include:

  • Traditional Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, and Potatoes (plant based option available)

  • Grilled Steak and Egg: Pork Belly Potato Hash, Fried Egg, and Chimichurri

  • Shrimp and Grits: Smoked Gouda Cheese Grits, Garlic Baguette, and Tomato Jam

  • Banana-stuffed French Toast: Sweet Cream Cheese served with Caramel Sauce and Bacon

  • For the Kids

    • Egg White Frittata

    • Mickey-shaped Waffle

    • Fruit and Seed Oatmeal

    • Assorted Cold Cereals

    • with a selection of 2 sides:

      • Sausage or Bacon

      • Seasonal Fruit

      • Home Fries

Overall, everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, and we felt the food quality was better than what we've experienced at some other character buffets. That said, the menu is fairly limited, so picky eaters may have a harder time finding an entrée they’ll enjoy. Most of the kids in our group played it safe with Mickey waffles, while one opted for the very pricey bowl of cereal - a choice that didn't exactly thrill their parents!

Lunch and Dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table

Lunch and dinner offer another opportunity to experience dining inside Cinderella Castle, especially if you'd rather spend the morning exploring Magic Kingdom before taking a longer break in the air conditioning. Both meals include an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, making them feel a bit more substantial than breakfast and potentially offering better value for the price, depending on your priorities.

  • Appetizers of the Court

    • Soup of the Day

    • Castle Salad

    • Roasted Pork Belly

    • Chilled Jumbo Shrimp

  • Entrées Royale

    • Roasted Lamb Chops

    • Grilled Filet Mignon

    • Catch of the Day

    • Chicken Cottage Pie

    • Pan-roasted Cauliflower

  • Finales

    • The Clock Strikes Twelve: Chocolate Ganache Tart with Salted Caramel-Coffee Mousse

    • Floating Island: Strawberry Meringue with Fruit Coulis

    • Jaq & Gus Cheesecake: Vanilla Cheesecake with Fresh Fruit

The kids’ menu offers a mix of familiar favorites and a few more adventurous options for younger diners. Children can start with sliced apples, cheese and grapes, or a garden salad, followed by an entrée choice of chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, fish of the day, or short rib. Each entrée comes with two kid-friendly sides, such as seasonal vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, or corn on the cob.

For dessert, little diners can choose from The Sword in the Sweet, Jaq & Gus Cheesecake, or seasonal sorbet. With recognizable favorites alongside a few more unique options, there’s a nice variety for different tastes.

For the adults, we very much enjoyed our roasted lamb chops and filet mignon. It is definitely a step up for entrees over other character meals.

Breakfast vs. Lunch and Dinner: Which Should You Choose?

There isn't necessarily one right answer when choosing a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table. It really comes down to your park plans, your family's dining preferences, and when a longer sit-down meal would fit best into your day.

  • Breakfast: A memorable way to start your Magic Kingdom day, especially for families who love breakfast foods or want an early princess experience. Planning to visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, too? Keep an eye on the timing. Breakfast ends at 10:15 a.m., and the boutique experience typically takes around 90 minutes, so fitting both in can be a bit of a squeeze depending on your reservation times.

  • Lunch: A great opportunity to sit down and recharge during a busy park day. Lunch can sometimes be a little easier to book than other meal times, though availability varies. One thing to consider is how full you'll feel afterward. If you're planning to tackle thrill rides, you may want to leave yourself some time to digest rather than rushing straight to your next attraction.

  • Dinner: A special way to end your Magic Kingdom day, and often the easiest option if you want to visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique beforehand. It's also especially fun to see all the little princesses dressed up and meeting their favorite characters! Popular dinner times, particularly between 5 and 7 pm, can be challenging to secure, so if you can't find your preferred time, consider a later reservation. Dining inside Cinderella Castle during firework or while other guests head out for the evening can be a lovely way to end your day.

When deciding which meal to book, think about when your family would most appreciate a longer break and how the reservation fits into the rest of your plans. Families with young children may prefer breakfast, when everyone is fresh and full of energy, while adults traveling without kids might enjoy a later dinner after a full day in the parks. There's no universally best time to dine, just the time that works best for your group.

Is Cinderella’s Royal Table Good for Kids?

Quick verdict: YES! For children who love Disney princesses, Cinderella’s Royal Table can feel like stepping into a fairytale. Between dining inside Cinderella Castle and having princesses visit the table, there are plenty of opportunities to make the meal feel special.

The Cast Members do a great job of welcoming families while still maintaining the feel of an elevated dining experience. The dining room isn't particularly large, so kids can often spot the princesses as they make their way from table to table and get excited for their own visits. During our meal, the interactions with the less-interested boys in our group were understandably brief, while the children who were eager to engage had thoughtful interactions that didn't feel rushed.

For the kids in our group, though, the biggest hit came at the end of the meal: the special take-home gifts! Each child is offered a plastic sword or a magic wand to remember the experience. In our case, the swords inspired an epic battle before we even made it out of the restaurant. A word of advice for parents: if your child chooses a sword, you might want to hang onto it until you're outside!

Kelsey’s Tips for Cinderella’s Royal Table

1. Make your reservation a priority - Cinderella’s Royal Table is a popular dining experience, so plan ahead and check availability as soon as your booking window opens. If your park schedule is flexible, consider looking at different days throughout your trip rather than locking yourself into one date for better availability.

2. Think about your park schedule - Choose breakfast, lunch, or dinner based on when your family would most appreciate a sit-down break. You don't want to feel rushed through a meal you've been looking forward to, or be so tired by the time your reservation rolls around that you can't fully enjoy it.

3. Have your camera ready - Between the castle setting and princess interactions, there are plenty of opportunities for memorable photos. Cinderella meets guests in the Grand Hall, where a PhotoPass photographer is available, but there are not photographers circulating in the dining room. Have your camera or phone ready to capture the princess visits at your table, too, then put it away and enjoy the moment!

4. Let the character interactions happen naturally - Some family members will be eager to chat with every princess, while others may need a little time to warm up. Let everyone enjoy the interactions in their own way, and don't be afraid to join in yourself! Adults, this is your permission to embrace the royal treatment, too.

5. Know what you're booking - Cinderella’s Royal Table is a premium dining experience, and the appeal goes beyond the food. You're paying for the opportunity to dine inside Cinderella Castle, enjoy the atmosphere, and meet Disney princesses during your meal. Knowing what matters most to you before you book can help set realistic expectations and make the experience more enjoyable.

Is the Cinderella's Royal Table Worth It?

Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of those Disney dining experiences where the memories you make can be just as important as the meal itself. For Disney princess fans, guests celebrating a special occasion, or anyone who has dreamed of dining inside Cinderella Castle, it can be a memorable addition to a Magic Kingdom vacation.

Whether it’s worth the splurge depends on your priorities. If the castle setting and princess interactions are what you're after, this experience may be exactly what you're looking for. If food quality is your main priority, you may find comparable or better meals elsewhere at a lower price.

Planning to use the Disney Dining Plan? I'd take a closer look before redeeming your credits here. Cinderella’s Royal Table requires two Table-Service credits per person, and using two credits doesn't always offer the best value - particularly for breakfast. Depending on the cost of your meal and the other restaurants on your wish list, paying out of pocket here and saving your credits for other eligible meals may help you get more from your dining plan.

It's also worth considering whether a slower-paced, fine-dining experience suits your family. Younger children may be more excited about meeting the princesses than what's on their plates, which is perfectly normal for character dining! Knowing what matters most to your family will help you decide whether this reservation is the right fit.

The best Disney dining reservations aren't necessarily the ones everyone else recommends. They're the ones that fit your family's interests, priorities, and travel style.
