Disney World Character Dining Guide

Updated June 2026

Character dining at Disney World is a unique and magical experience that allows guests to enjoy a meal while meeting some of their favorite Disney characters. These dining experiences take place at table service restaurants throughout the parks and resorts.

Character dining is one of the best ways to meet your favorite characters in a lower stress, limited wait environment. The characters make their way around the dining room, stopping at each table to greet guests, sign autographs, and pose for photos. Each character visits your table individually, giving your family dedicated time for photos, autographs, and special interactions, all while you sit back and enjoy your meal!

There are currently 12 character dining experiences available at Walt Disney World, with options located throughout the theme parks and resort hotels, plus one additional experience at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando just outside Disney property.

Resort-based character meals are an excellent choice for rest days since they don't require park admission, allowing you to enjoy the Disney magic without using a park ticket. Character dining inside the parks offers its own unique appeal, with immersive settings like castles, grand lodges, and themed restaurants. These meals also provide a welcome break from the Florida heat, giving you a chance to relax in air conditioning while enjoying great food and character interactions. Keep in mind that dining locations inside the parks do require valid park admission.

Disney World Character Dining FAQs

Is character dining worth it? Yes, I believe character dining is worth it. It is a great way to meet your favorite characters without waiting in long lines while also enjoying a great meal. I personally enjoy doing character meals at resorts on rest days.

If you are not a character person, then skip character meals and enjoy other options.

What restaurants can I meet princesses?

You can meet princesses at Cinderella's Royal Table, Akershus, and 1900 Park Fare.

Are the character meals that take 2 table credits worth it?

The character meals requiring 2 table credits are usually not the best use of your dining plan, but still great options for dining. You can always pay out of pocket for these and use your dining plan elsewhere.

Do I need park tickets to go to character meals?

You need a park ticket if going to a character meal located inside one of the four parks. If you are going to a character meal at a resort, you do not need a ticket.

What is your favorite character meal?

This answer will vary by person, but my personal favorite is Topolino's Terrace. The food is amazing, the views from the balcony are stunning, and the characters in their artistic attire can only be seen here.

My favorite princess meal is at Akershus because I love the Norwegian inspired food and eating in a medieval castle is pretty great.

Do you actually get to interact with the characters much?

This will vary by restaurant and time of year, but I have found that you can get great interactions with characters during the meals. You get one on one time with them and sometimes you even get to see them twice.

Do characters sign autographs at character dining?

Yes! The characters will sign their autographs at the different character dining locations. Some locations will also provide a character signature card for a souvenir.

Character dining is one of the most magical ways to add extra Disney memories to your vacation. From breakfast with Mickey to dining inside Cinderella Castle, these experiences combine great food with unforgettable character interactions that guests of all ages can enjoy.
